Born in Soriana-Estopanyà, Aragón, Spain, he earned his Engineering degree in 1981 and PhD in 1986 in Computer Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). Since 1985, he has been with the National Centre for Microelectronics (CSIC) at the Barcelona Institute, where he currently heads the Integrated Circuits & Systems (ICAS) group. His research interests span hardware description languages, flexible platform-based design, low-power analogue-digital-mixed CMOS circuit design, N/MEMS sensor interfaces, and organic/printed/flexible electronics. He has participated in and managed numerous industrial and research projects, resulting in several papers, patents, and spin-offs. In addition, he serves as a part-time assistant professor at the UAB.
