Lindy Simpson is a qualified social worker with over 30 years of experience, beginning her career with the Local Authority in Cumbria. She has extensive experience in the challenges of being taken into care, living in care, and transitioning out of care. Through a participatory approach, she has led the development of leaving care services, the Independent Reviewing Service, and managed advocacy and participation services, including serving as Children’s Rights Officer. Lindy spent ten years in the NHS developing acute psychiatric inpatient services for adolescents, gaining national recognition and awards for improving young people's mental health. She later joined UCLan as a Senior Lecturer, where she completed an MA in Contemporary Practice with Children and Young People and teaches on the BA (Hons) Social Pedagogy, Advocacy, and Participation degree.
