Laura Ramirez

Dr. Laura Ramírez Elizondo currently serves as an Associate Professor at TU Delft's DC Systems, Energy Conversion & Storage research group, where she has established herself as a leading authority in energy systems and microgrids. Her unique academic background combines a Bachelor's degree in both Electrical Engineering and Music (Piano) from the Universidad de Costa Rica in 2003, followed by an honors Master's degree in Electrical Power Engineering from TU Delft in 2007. After completing her PhD focused on optimal usage of multiple energy carriers in residential systems, she received the prestigious Erasmus Energy Science Award in 2013. Her research portfolio encompasses DC and AC microgrids, multi-carrier energy systems, direct current distribution networks, and the integration of renewable sources. As a key figure in energy transition research, she leads initiatives in energy hub development, particularly focusing on residential systems and charging stations, while contributing to educational programs including the Solar Energy Engineering MicroMasters.
