As the former Co-director of Planning for Vancouver, he pioneered a participatory and socially responsible approach to urban planning that gained international recognition. His vision led to Vancouver's dramatic reshaping, doubling its inner-city population while creating vibrant neighborhoods with open spaces and cultural opportunities. Currently serving as the Distinguished Practice Professor of Planning at the University of British Columbia and founding principal of Beasley and Associates, he continues to influence urban development globally. His expertise has shaped cities from Abu Dhabi to Rotterdam, Dallas to Shanghai. Beasley's contributions have earned him numerous prestigious accolades, including appointment as a Member of the Order of Canada, the Kevin Lynch Prize from MIT, recognition from the United Nations as among the "World's 100 Best Planning Practices," and honorary doctorate degrees from Simon Fraser University and Dalhousie University.
