The Hong Kong Polytechnic UniversityKristina Shin serves as Assistant Professor at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where she has established herself as a leading expert in fashion design and inclusive garment innovation. After earning her BA in Clothing and Textiles from Chung Nam National University, MA in Fashion Merchandising from California State University Los Angeles, and PhD in Fashion Design from the University of Northumbria, she has built an extraordinary career combining technical expertise with creative innovation. Her groundbreaking research includes the development of "Shin's Method" for bra pattern making, published in her comprehensive textbook "Pattern Making for Underwear Design," and the creation of adaptive garments like the award-winning hydrotherapy wetsuit for people with limited mobility. Her achievements include a gold medal at the Seoul International Invention Fair 2015 for her mastectomy bra and prosthesis design, and two World Fashion Awards for her "Cross Your Heart" collection. Through her leadership of PolyU's Fashion Design and Creation MOOCs and exhibitions across multiple countries, she continues to advance both technical innovation in pattern making and inclusive design while maintaining her commitment to improving quality of life through fashion design.
