Mara Tignino is a Reader at the Faculty of Law and Coordinator of the Platform for International Freshwater Law at the Geneva Water Hub. In her role, she leads the online course "International Water Law and the Law of Transboundary Aquifers" and has held visiting professorships at institutions such as Renmin University of China and the University of Barcelona. Dr. Tignino serves as a legal expert and advisor to various states and international organizations, including the Inter-American Development Bank and UNEP, and frequently presents at international conferences across multiple continents. She is actively involved in initiatives related to international business and human rights as a member of the European Society of International Law's Interest Group. Additionally, she mentors participants in the American Society of International Law's "Women in International Law" program and is a member of the World Commission on Environmental Law of the IUCN. Dr. Tignino holds a Ph.D. in International Law from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, along with a BA in Political Science from LUISS in Rome. Her research focuses on international water law, environmental governance, and sustainable development, contributing significantly to legal frameworks that address water resource management globally.
