École Polytechnique Fédérale de LausanneKim McAlpine is a Science Pipelines Developer at the South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO), where she works on the Science Data Processor team. After earning her Ph.D. in Radio Astronomy from Rhodes University in 2012, she spent five years at the University of the Western Cape as a post-doctoral research fellow and lecturer, focusing on radio continuum astronomy. Her expertise spans radio continuum studies of AGN and star-forming galaxies, cross-matching radio and optical surveys, and developing automatic calibration systems for radio interferometric datasets. She contributes to the development of data processing pipelines for major radio astronomy projects, including work with the MeerKAT telescope. Her research combines technical expertise in data processing with scientific investigations of active galactic nuclei and star formation in galaxies.
