Pioneering Climate Infrastructure and Equity Researcher

Massachusetts Institute of TechnologyKevin Fan Hsu serves as a PhD candidate in Infrastructure and Climate Planning at MIT, where he investigates strategies to make climate transition more equitable and democratic. As co-founder of Infrastructure x Equity, he works to transform how infrastructure projects are conceived and implemented, bringing together government officials, green businesses, and development professionals. His extensive experience includes serving as Senior Assistant Director at Singapore's Centre for Liveable Cities (2018-2021), where he led the resilience/sustainability research cluster while concurrently working as a research fellow at the Urban Redevelopment Authority. His academic background combines degrees from prestigious institutions: an M.S. in Civil & Environmental Engineering, B.S. in Earth Systems, and B.A. in International Relations from Stanford University, along with an M.A. in Cultural Heritage Management from Johns Hopkins University. Prior to MIT, he contributed significantly to education as a Lecturer at Stanford's Hasso Plattner Institute of Design and Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering. His professional experience includes roles as an urban scientist with The Walt Disney Company and collaboration with the NRDC in Beijing on climate and energy issues. Currently an MIT Presidential Fellow, his research focuses on accelerating climate infrastructure delivery while ensuring community benefits and democratic participation in the green economy transition.
