Arizona State UniversityKenneth Buetow serves as Director of the Center for Evolution and Medicine and Professor in the School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University, where he leads the Computational Sciences and Informatics program for Complex Adaptive Systems. His academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Human Genetics (1985), M.S. in Human Genetics (1983) from the University of Pittsburgh, and a B.A. in Biology from Indiana University (1980). His distinguished career spans over 20 years of research in genetics, complex diseases, and bioinformatics, including serving as the Founding Director of the Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology at the National Cancer Institute. His research leverages computational tools to understand complex traits such as cancer, liver disease, and obesity, with over 160 scientific publications to his credit. His work has earned numerous accolades, including the AACC Outstanding Speaker Award (2015), Fellow of the American College of Medical Information (2010), and multiple NIH Director's Awards. Currently, he directs bioinformatics and data management for the National Biomarker Development Alliance while continuing his research at ASU's Complex Adaptive Systems initiative.
