Katsuya Hasegawa

Katsuya Hasegawa is a Project Professor at The University of Tokyo, specializing in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship within academic settings. Born in 1957, he graduated from the Department of Applied Physics at The University of Tokyo in 1980 and earned his Master's degree in the same field in 1982. His career began at Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (now Panasonic Corporation), where he engaged in semiconductor research and development for 15 years, including a significant period as a visiting researcher at Stanford University from 1990 to 1992. Hasegawa then transitioned to venture investment activities in Silicon Valley before becoming a professor at Waseda University's MOT Research Institute. Since May 2009, he has been a specially appointed professor at the Industry-Academia Collaboration Promotion Headquarters at The University of Tokyo, where he plays a vital role in supporting university-based startups and educating aspiring entrepreneurs.
