Wells serves as Director for International Emergency Medicine and Network Emergency Department Director for Health Equity at the University of Vermont Medical Center, where she also holds the position of Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Larner College of Medicine. Her work focuses on emergency care system development, health equity, and global emergency medicine education. She leads several key initiatives including the Global Health Bridge Course, Division of Emergency Medicine Health Equity Curriculum, and the Migrant Farmworker Health Equity Initiative. Her commitment to health equity extends to working with more than 50 community collaborators to build healthcare quality and access initiatives. She has developed innovative curricula including a Social Determinants of Health program for fourth-year medical students and has led significant community health initiatives, including organizing Vermont's first large-scale COVID-19 vaccine clinic in Chittenden county. Through her collaboration with organizations like the African Federation of Emergency Medicine and the Emergency Care Society of Uganda, she continues to advance emergency medicine education and health equity both locally and globally.
