Trinity CollegeDr. Kathleen Archer is an associate professor of biology at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, with over 25 years of experience in undergraduate biology education. She holds a Ph.D. in plant physiology and development from the University of Oregon, where her dissertation focused on a virescent chloroplast mutant in tobacco. Dr. Archer has a strong background in innovative teaching techniques, including case studies, clickers, group exams, inquiry-based learning, and backward design. She has trained with the National Center for Case Studies Teaching in Science and completed an educational research residency with the American Society of Microbiologists. Her research interests include student misconceptions about plant biology and the development of concept assessments for introductory plant biology courses. Dr. Archer has received several grants to support her work, including funding from the American Society of Plant Biologists for projects aimed at understanding and addressing misconceptions in plant biology education. She has also led numerous workshops on effective teaching strategies and contributed to academic literature on biology education.
