KU LeuvenKari Otteburn currently serves as a Postdoctoral Researcher at KU Leuven's Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies, where she has established herself as a specialist in corporate accountability and business human rights. Her academic credentials include a master's degree in European Studies: Asia-Europe Interactions from KU Leuven (magna cum laude) and a bachelor's degree from Illinois Wesleyan University (magna cum laude). Her research portfolio focuses on three main areas: corporate accountability and power dynamics, human rights protection in trade and investment policy, and business human rights governance. She has made significant contributions to the field, including co-authoring the "Research Handbook on Global Governance, Business and Human Rights" and participating in the Horizon 2020 GLOBE project examining future trends in global governance. As a lecturer, she teaches courses on business and human rights, trade policy, and European-South Asian relations, while also co-managing EU-RENEW. Her expertise extends to corporate accountability mechanisms, labor rights, and international trade governance, with particular attention to Asian contexts. Through her research and teaching, she continues to shape understanding of how corporate behavior impacts human rights in the global economy.
