Kalipso Chalkidou

Kalipso Chalkidou serves as Director of Health Finance and Economics at the World Health Organization while holding professorships at Imperial College London and Griffith University in Australia. After earning her medical degree from the University of Athens and doctorate in molecular biology from Newcastle University, she has dedicated her career to helping governments build capacity for evidence-based health policy decisions. Her extensive experience includes founding and directing NICE International (2008-2016) and establishing the International Decision Support Initiative to improve evidence-based health spending globally. Through her work with major international organizations, she has influenced healthcare reforms in multiple countries including China, Turkey, Colombia, and the United States. As author of over 100 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters, she continues to advance understanding of healthcare resource allocation while supporting countries in their progress toward universal healthcare coverage.
