Technische Universität MünchenJürgen Sturm is currently a Senior Staff Software Engineering Manager at Intrinsic, an Alphabet company, with an impressive career spanning academia and industry. His academic journey includes degrees in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Amsterdam and a PhD from the University of Freiburg completed in 2011. As a postdoctoral researcher at TUM's Computer Vision group, he pioneered work in RGB-D vision, dense localization, and 3D reconstruction for micro aerial vehicles. His research has significantly impacted the field, with his benchmark paper for RGB-D SLAM systems receiving over 4,000 citations. Sturm's entrepreneurial spirit led him to co-found FabliTec in 2013, a 3D scanning startup where he served as CEO until 2015.
