Purdue UniversityJoshua M. Scacco has established himself as an influential voice in political communication research, currently serving as Associate Professor and Founding Director of the Center for Sustainable Democracy at the University of South Florida. His academic journey includes a B.A. from Juniata College, M.A. from Georgetown University's Communication, Culture & Technology program, and Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. Before joining USF, he served as an Assistant Professor at Purdue University's Brian Lamb School of Communication, where he specialized in political communication and media effects. His groundbreaking research examines how emerging communication technologies influence established agents in American political life, including news organizations and the presidency. He co-authored the influential book "The Ubiquitous Presidency: Presidential Communication and Digital Democracy in Tumultuous Times" with Kevin Coe, and his work has appeared in prestigious journals including the International Journal of Press/Politics and New Media & Society. As a Faculty Research Associate with the Center for Media Engagement and Faculty Researcher with the USF-Nielsen Sunshine State Survey, he continues to shape understanding of how political leaders, journalists, and news outlets influence American democratic life through both traditional and digital media channels.
