Leading Expert in Aviation Education and Sustainable Aircraft Design

Delft University of TechnologyJoris Melkert serves as Senior Lecturer at TU Delft's Flight Performance and Propulsion chair and Director of Education for the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering, bringing over 25 years of teaching experience in aviation and fundamental engineering courses. With an MSc in Aerospace Engineering and a Bachelor's in Business Administration, he teaches crucial subjects including Aircraft Performance, Structural Analysis and Design, Aircraft Design, and Aircraft Manufacturing. His influence extends beyond TU Delft through significant leadership roles, including chairing the ACARE Working Group on Research, Education and Research Infrastructure, co-chairing the ACARE Strategy and Implementation Board, and serving on the Program Committee of the International Council for the Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS). He has previously chaired the European network of aerospace universities PEGASUS and currently represents TU Delft in both PEGASUS and the worldwide network ALICANTO. His research interests focus on aircraft design and alternative aviation fuels, while also contributing to quality assurance as a member of the TU Delft Extension School's Quality Assurance Board.
