Jorge Alberto Cortés Luna is a distinguished medical professional who completed both his medical degree and specializations in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases at Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Since joining as a professor in 2007, he has made significant contributions to infectious disease research, with over 100 publications in national and international journals, particularly focusing on fungal infections and immunosuppressed patients. His leadership roles include serving as Vice President of the Colombian Association of Infectious Diseases (ACIN) nationally and as President at the local level. As a member of prestigious organizations including the Infectious Diseases Society of America, European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID), and the Pan American Association of Infectious Diseases, he brings international expertise to his role. Currently, he coordinates the Infectious Disease Service at the National University Hospital, where he has played a crucial role in managing the COVID-19 pandemic response.
