Jordi Vallverdú, Ph.D., M.Sci., B.Mus, B.Phil, is a Tenure Professor at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Catalonia), specializing in the epistemological and cognitive aspects of Philosophy of Computing, Sciences, and Artificial Intelligence. He is the founder and Editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Synthetic Emotions (IJSE). Vallverdú has authored several influential books, including Una ética de las emociones (2007), Bioética computacional (2009), and Thinking Machines and the Philosophy of Computer Science: Concepts and Principles (2010). His research focuses on synthetic emotions, sociable robotics, and the intersection of artificial intelligence and human emotion. In 2011, he received a prestigious JSPS fellowship to conduct research on computational Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) interfaces at Kyoto University. He has been a keynote speaker at several international conferences, including ECAP09 in Munich, EBICC2012 in Brazil, and SLACTIONS 2013 in Portugal.
