John W. Paisley

John Paisley serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Columbia University and is an affiliated member of the Data Science Institute. After completing his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Duke University, he enhanced his expertise through postdoctoral research at Princeton University and UC Berkeley. His research focuses on developing probabilistic models and inference techniques for large-scale data analysis, with particular emphasis on Bayesian nonparametric methods, dictionary learning, and topic modeling. He has made significant contributions to machine learning applications in text and image processing, recommendation systems, and compressed sensing. His work has earned substantial recognition in the field of statistical machine learning, particularly in developing Bayesian models that address Big Data challenges.
