Professor of Volcanology at McGill University
John Stix is a Professor of Volcanology in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at McGill University, where he has been teaching since 1999. His courses cover topics such as volcanology, natural hazards, and field studies. Stix is known for pioneering innovative teaching methodologies, including interactive web videoconferencing. His research interests focus on supervolcanoes and calderas, magma plumbing systems beneath active volcanoes, and volcanic gas emissions.
