Joaquín Saiz was born in Reus, Spain, in 1967. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the Faculty of Sciences at UAB in 1990 and holds the title of Senior Engineer in Computer Science. He currently works as a technical specialist for research support at the UAB Engineering School. Previously, he served as an associate professor at the UAB School of Engineering, and as a professor at the Polytechnic University School of Mataró, the Gimbernat University School, and the Faculty of Sciences at UAB. His teaching focused on Computer and Electronic Engineering, with an emphasis on digital systems design and application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs). His research career began at the National Microelectronics Centre, CSIC, where he participated in projects related to CAD development and cell libraries. Later, at the Computer Engineering department of UAB, he specialized in co-design and system specification languages, and in the Department of Microelectronics, he worked on the representation of Boolean functions.
