Curtin UniversityDr. Jo Li Tay serves as Associate Lecturer in the School of Design and the Built Environment at Curtin University. Through her teaching in Design Theory, Design Principles, and Design Thinking, she helps students understand fundamental design concepts and their practical applications. Her expertise combines ten years of professional experience as a graphic designer across public, private, and not-for-profit sectors with academic research in design education. Her Ph.D. research, "A Model for Mapping Interactivity in Learning Experiences," explores the intersection of aesthetics, interactivity, and learning design. Her innovative teaching methods have earned her recognition through a teaching award at Curtin for her work in Introduction to Design Thinking. Beyond academia, she demonstrates practical application of design principles through entrepreneurial ventures, including co-founding the mobile app company Flock2go. Her research interests span aesthetics, interactivity, experience design, learning, and design thinking, while maintaining active involvement in both theoretical research and practical design applications.
