Wageningen University & ResearchDr. Jerry Maroulis has served as a lecturer at Wageningen University's Soil Physics and Land Management Group since 2012, bringing over 25 years of expertise in fluvial geomorphology and environmental science. His academic journey includes a PhD from Wollongong University, where he studied climate change impacts on Cooper Creek in central Australia over a 100,000-year timespan. His career spans both hemispheres, having held significant positions in Australia before moving to the Netherlands. As Co-Director and Deputy Director of the Australian Centre for Sustainable Catchments at the University of Southern Queensland from 2007-2010, he demonstrated leadership in environmental research. His unique background combines academic expertise with practical experience, including work as a senior environmental consultant at Landloch, where he conducted soil erosion research for Australian mining companies and government agencies. Currently, he maintains connections with Australia as an adjunct senior lecturer at USQ's International Centre for Applied Climate Sciences while teaching at Wageningen University. His 17-year tenure in USQ's Faculty of Education, where he earned multiple teaching awards for innovative online pedagogical practices, showcases his commitment to both environmental science and education. He currently contributes to the MOOC "Sustainable Soil Management: Soil for Life," where he shares his extensive knowledge of soil physics and land management with a global audience.
