Professor Jens Juul Holst is a prominent figure in the field of Medical Physiology, serving as a Professor and Deputy Head of the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen. He is also the Research Director at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research. His research primarily focuses on regulatory peptides from the pancreas and gut, particularly their roles in gastrointestinal function and metabolism, with special emphasis on blood glucose and appetite regulation, obesity, and diabetes. Over his career, Professor Holst has published more than 1,000 research papers and consistently produces 20–35 publications annually. He is a member of several prestigious academic organizations, including the Danish Academy for Natural Sciences and the Royal Danish Academy of Science and Letters, and serves on the editorial boards of several scientific journals.
