Jennifer A. Deal

Dr. Jennifer A. Deal is an Associate Professor and Associate Director of Academic Training at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where she specializes in the epidemiology of aging. Her research focuses on how hearing impairment and vascular factors influence cognitive function, aiming to inform strategies for preventing cognitive decline and dementia in older adults. Dr. Deal earned her bachelor's degree from Indiana University, followed by a Master of Health Science and a PhD from Johns Hopkins. She has a joint appointment in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and has been actively involved in various initiatives to enhance understanding and treatment of sensory health issues among older populations. Additionally, she teaches an online course on Coursera titled "A Public Health Approach to Hearing Loss," contributing to the education of future public health professionals.
