Javier García-Guzmán

Carlos Elías serves as Full Professor (Catedrático) of Journalism at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and holds the Jean Monnet Chair on "EU, Disinformation & Fake News." His research focuses on the intersection of policy, science, technology, and media, earning him the 2012 UC3M Excellence Prize for Young Research Staff. As Director of the Master's in Corporate and Institutional Communication, he combines academic leadership with practical journalism and consulting work. His expertise spans science journalism, digital media, and emerging journalism practices. His academic contributions include influential books analyzing the relationship between science, technology, and social change, particularly in mathematics and computer science's impact on society. Previously, he held positions at the Spanish National University of Distance Education (UNED), where he worked on projects combining journalism and philosophy of science to research fake news. His work has earned international recognition through numerous publications and research projects focused on combating misinformation and promoting scientific communication.
