Dr. Jan Nico Bouwes Bavinck is a dermatologist and epidemiologist at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), specializing in the care of organ transplant recipients. He has conducted extensive research on the epidemiology and risk factors associated with skin cancer, particularly among transplant patients, and has published over 150 articles in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Bouwes Bavinck is actively involved in various professional organizations, having served on the Board of the European Society of Dermatological Research and as president of Skin Care in Organ Transplant Recipients Europe (SCOPE). He is currently a member of the Steering Group of the European Dermato-Epidemiological Network (EDEN) and serves as Scientific Committee Chair of SCOPE. Dr. Bouwes Bavinck teaches the course Clinical Kidney, Pancreas and Islet Transplantation, where he shares his expertise on the dermatological challenges faced by transplant recipients.
