He is also a University Faculty Scholar. His research focuses on developing structure-property-processing relationships in emerging functional materials, primarily using advanced X-ray and neutron scattering techniques. Since 2004, Dr. Jones has published over 150 papers and delivered more than 80 invited lectures. He is a Fellow of the American Ceramic Society and has received numerous awards, including an NSF CAREER award, a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), the IEEE Ferroelectrics Young Investigator Award, a National Nuclear Security Administration Defense Program Award of Excellence, and the UF-HHMI Science for Life Distinguished Mentor Award. Additionally, he has won two Edward C. Henry “Best Paper” awards from the American Ceramic Society. Dr. Jones is actively involved in the IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control Society and the American Ceramic Society. He earned his PhD from Purdue University in 2004 and completed an international postdoctoral fellowship at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, supported by the National Science Foundation. Before joining NC State in August 2013, he was an Assistant and Associate Professor at the University of Florida from 2006 to 2013.
