The Hong Kong Polytechnic UniversityIvy Xiaoyan Wu serves as a PhD student in the Department of English and Communication at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where she conducts research on intergroup communication, health communication, and cross-cultural adaptation. Her research portfolio focuses on understanding how Mainland Chinese students adapt to cross-cultural environments, particularly examining their willingness to communicate and psychological adaptation in Hong Kong. She has made significant contributions to health communication research, including studies on grief and bereavement during COVID-19, end-of-life care communication practices, and patient safety in healthcare settings. As a PhD Student Representative of the International Association of Language and Social Psychology and member of both the Asian Association of Social Psychology and International Research Centre for the Advancement of Health Communication, she actively participates in academic discourse and research initiatives. Her work has been recognized with The Stephen Evans Best Paper Award 2024 for her research on Mainland Chinese students' psychological adaptation to Hong Kong from an intergroup communication perspective. She has also served as a Research Associate on multiple projects examining health crisis communication, cultural perspectives on disease stigma, and emotional labor among healthcare workers.
