The Institute of University Teaching (IDU) at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru serves as the primary unit responsible for the comprehensive development of PUCP faculty members through diverse training modalities and the promotion of research in best teaching practices. Under the leadership of Dr. Patricia Escobar Cáceres, who brings extensive expertise in educational innovation and faculty development, the IDU focuses on five key areas: learning planning, methodology and resource use, communication and interaction, learning assessment, and reflection and innovation. The Institute offers various faculty development programs, including workshops on qualitative research methodologies, academic integrity in the age of AI, and strategies for strengthening collaborative skills. Through its annual electronic journal "En Blanco & Negro," the Institute disseminates research and innovation proposals in higher education teaching. The IDU's work aligns with PUCP's Educational Model, promoting values, principles, and guidelines that enhance teaching and learning processes while fostering academic excellence and innovation in university education.
