Distinguished Professor at Osaka University
Hiroshi Ishiguro is a Distinguished Professor at the Graduate School of Engineering Science, Osaka University, where he focuses on sensor networks, interactive robotics, and android science. He completed his Ph.D. in systems engineering at Osaka University in 1991. Before his current role, he held positions at Kyoto University, the University of California, San Diego, and Wakayama University.Ishiguro is renowned for his work in developing humanoid robots, particularly the Geminoid, which closely resembles him and is designed for teleoperation. His research explores the implications of human-like robots in social interactions and cognitive science. He has received several prestigious awards, including the Osaka Cultural Award in 2011 and the Prize for Science and Technology by Japan's Minister of Education in 2015.
