Heitor Almeida

Heitor Almeida is a Professor of Finance and the Stanley C. and Joan J. Golder Distinguished Chair in Corporate Finance at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He joined UIUC in 2007 after serving as an associate professor at New York University's Stern School of Business. Almeida holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago, along with master's and bachelor's degrees from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and the Federal University of Minas Gerais, respectively. His extensive academic background and research experience have established him as a leading expert in corporate finance, particularly in areas such as financial constraints, liquidity management, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance.In his role at UIUC, Professor Almeida teaches courses like "Corporate Finance I: Measuring and Promoting Value Creation" and "Finance of Mergers and Acquisitions," where he equips students with critical insights into financial decision-making and strategic management. He is also the Academic Director of iDegrees, overseeing innovative online degree programs. His research has been published in numerous prestigious journals, and he serves as an associate editor for several financial publications, including the Journal of Financial Intermediation and the Journal of Banking and Finance. Recognized for his teaching excellence, Almeida has received multiple awards, including Professor of the Year for the EMBA Class at UIUC.
