Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M)Gonzalo Sánchez Arriaga serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioengineering and Aerospace Engineering at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. With dual expertise as an Aerospace Engineer and Astrophysicist, he earned his PhD in Aerospace Engineering, receiving the Outstanding Thesis Award. His research spans three main areas: space electrodynamic tethers, nonlinear waves in plasmas, and dynamic control of power kites for wind energy generation. His teaching portfolio includes courses in General Physics, Analytical Mechanics, and Flight Mechanics. His international experience includes research stays at Kyushu University in Japan, Nice Observatory in France, and a two-year postdoctoral position at CEA in France. His scientific contributions include more than 25 publications in ISI journals, two registered software codes, and co-advisory of two PhD theses. Through participation in multiple national and European projects, he has advanced understanding of plasma physics applications in space technology and renewable energy systems.
