Godefroid de Callataÿ

Godefroid de Callataÿ is a Professor of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the Oriental Institute of the University of Louvain. His research specializes in the history of Arabic sciences and philosophy, particularly examining the significant role of Islam in transmitting knowledge from Greek Antiquity to the Latin West during the Middle Ages. He has published extensively on the encyclopedic corpus known as Rasā’il Ikhwān al-Ṣafā’ (Epistles of the Brethren of Purity) and, since 2012, has directed the project Speculum Arabicum, which focuses on comparative medieval encyclopaedism at the University of Louvain.
