Dr. Gilles Poumerol is a seasoned public health specialist with over 30 years of experience at the World Health Organization (WHO), where he held various roles at country, regional, and global levels. His expertise spans the epidemiology and control of HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections, and tuberculosis, particularly in regions such as the Caribbean, Asia, the Pacific, and Africa. He has also led initiatives related to International Travel and Health (ITH) and the International Health Regulations (IHR). Dr. Poumerol holds an MD from the University of Paris and a Master of Science in Community Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, along with diplomas in tropical medicine and epidemiology from the University of Paris.
