Dr. Giancarmine Fasano serves as Associate Professor at the University of Naples Federico II, where he teaches Unmanned Aircraft Systems, Design of Autonomous Aircraft, and Space Flight Dynamics. Through his Coursera course "Autonomous Aerospace Systems," he helps students understand advanced concepts in unmanned aerial systems and space flight. His research focuses on unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), particularly sense and avoid technology, cooperative multi-UAV systems, and distributed space systems. As Vice-Chair of the IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society's Avionics Systems Panel and Senior Editor of IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, he significantly influences the field of aerospace engineering. His extensive work includes over 170 publications and five book chapters, garnering approximately 2,500 citations. He currently leads major research projects including CREATEFORUAS and SMARTGO, while maintaining roles as Principal Investigator for various national and European projects in autonomous aerospace systems
