Imperial College LondonGary Frost serves as Professor and Chair in Nutrition and Dietetics at Imperial College London, where he heads the Section for Nutrition Research and leads the Imperial Nutrition and Food Network. After qualifying as a dietitian in 1982, he built his career at Hammersmith Hospital for 18 years, during which he earned his PhD in Nutrition and became an Honorary Reader at Imperial College. His career path included a position as Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Surrey in 2005 before returning to Imperial College in 2008. His research innovations include developing wearable camera technology and AI tools for accurate diet monitoring, particularly through the CoDiet project, which aims to combat diet-related diseases through personalized nutrition approaches. His work spans clinical research in elderly nutrition, appetite regulation, dietary carbohydrates, food structure's influence on metabolism, and obesity management. As principal investigator on multiple major grants, including a £3 million project testing new diet-tracking technologies, he continues to advance the field through combining traditional nutritional science with innovative technological solutions.
