Trinity CollegeGarth Myers stands as a leading authority in urban studies and African geography at Trinity College, where he serves as the Paul E. Raether Distinguished Professor of Urban International Studies and Director of the Center for Urban and Global Studies. After earning his Ph.D. in Geography from UCLA with an allied field in Urban Planning, he has built an impressive academic career spanning over three decades. His research encompasses extensive fieldwork across Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Senegal, South Africa, Finland, China, Trinidad, Jamaica, and the UK. His most recent work, "Rethinking Urbanism: Lessons from Postcolonialism and the Global South" (2020), challenges mainstream urban theory and offers fresh perspectives on global urban development. Myers has authored six influential books examining African urban environments, colonial spaces, and sustainable development, while his teaching philosophy emphasizes student engagement and interactive learning.
