Ganesh Ramakrishnan

Ganesh Ramakrishnan serves as Bank of Baroda Chair Professor in Digital Entrepreneurship at IIT Bombay's Department of Computer Science and Engineering, advancing from his initial role as Assistant Professor in 2009. After completing his BTech and PhD in Computer Science from IIT Bombay and working as Research Staff Member at IBM India Research Labs, he has established himself as a pioneering force in AI and machine learning. His research spans statistical relational learning, information extraction, and machine learning optimization, with significant contributions including Project Udaan for AI-based translation, BharatGen for multilingual AI models, and the development of Sandhan, an Indian language search engine. His work has earned numerous accolades, including the National Award for eGovernance Gold Award in 2022, Institute Chair Professorship (2021-2024), and the Dr. P.K. Patwardhan Technology Development Award 2020. As Professor-in-Charge of the Koita Centre for Digital Health and co-founder of bbsAI, he continues to drive innovation in AI applications, particularly focusing on Indian languages and digital entrepreneurship.
