Pioneering Integration and Implementation Sciences at ANU
Professor Gabriele Bammer is a leading figure in developing the new discipline of Integration and Implementation Sciences (I2S) at the Australian National University. As a Professor at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health, her work focuses on improving research and action on complex real-world problems. Bammer's approach involves synthesizing knowledge from various disciplines and stakeholders, managing diverse unknowns, and supporting policy and practice change. Her seminal book "Disciplining Interdisciplinarity" (ANU E Press, 2013) outlines the foundations of I2S. Bammer's influence extends beyond ANU, as she is an ANU Public Policy Fellow, a Fulbright New Century Scholar alumna, and has held visiting appointments at prestigious institutions like Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. Through her work, Bammer is shaping a systematic approach to tackling complex societal and environmental issues, bridging the gap between academic research and practical implementation.
