Delft University of TechnologyFrederique van Andel serves as a researcher in TU Delft's Global Housing research group, where she combines expertise in urban planning and architecture to address affordable housing challenges in the Global South. After completing dual Master's degrees from TU Delft, she gained valuable experience working with firms like Mecanoo architecten, DP6 architectuurstudio, and architect Toni Gironès in Barcelona. Her contributions to the field include curating the 'Global Housing – Affordable Dwellings for Growing Cities' exhibition (2016) in Delft and Addis Ababa, and serving as managing editor of the DASH book series on housing studies. She currently manages the Addis Ababa Living Lab research project (2019-2023), focusing on resilient dwelling clusters for urban resettlement. Her teaching portfolio includes Master courses in Global Housing Design and Bachelor courses in Plan Analysis, and she was part of the team that won the 2022 edX Prize for Exceptional Contributions in Online Teaching and Learning for their Global Housing Design MOOC. As coordinator of the Platform for Affordable Dwelling (PAD), she continues to advance knowledge and solutions in affordable housing design, particularly focusing on participatory processes and incremental housing strategies for rapidly growing cities.
