Georgetown UniversityFrederick Binkholder serves as Professor of the Practice in Georgetown University's Department of Performing Arts and Director of Choral Studies, while also holding the position of artistic director of the Capitol Hill Chorale since 2000. After beginning his career in St. Louis, he gained experience through faculty positions at Washington University, the St. Louis Conservatory and School for the Arts, Georgia State University, and Mercer University before joining Georgetown. His expertise spans early church chant and polyphony, baroque choral music of the Jesuit Bolivian reductions, and sacred music from the Republic of Georgia. His leadership of Georgetown's choral programs includes directing the Chamber Singers and University Choir, where he has championed diverse repertoire including the world premiere of Margaret Bonds' "Credo." His programming innovation and artistic interpretations have earned recognition, including the 2018 Chorus America's Alice Parker Award for his work with the Capitol Hill Chorale.
