Francisco Vasquez

Francisco Vazquez serves as Senior Economist in the Institute for Capacity Development at the International Monetary Fund, where he combines teaching and research responsibilities in macroeconomics, international finance, and banking. After earning his PhD in Economics from the University of Maryland, MBA from IESA, and BA in Economics from the University of the Andes, he has built an impressive career conducting macroeconomic and financial sector analysis across multiple countries including Brazil, Spain, Ecuador, Poland, Luxembourg, and Switzerland. His research focuses on banking, financial stability, and credit markets, with significant contributions to understanding credit reversals and financial sector dynamics. Through his role at the IMF, he continues to shape understanding of international finance while training professionals in macroeconomic policy and financial sector analysis, contributing to the IMF's capacity development mission.
