The University of EdinburghFrancesca Iezzi is the Mathematics Engagement Officer at the University of Edinburgh's School of Mathematics, where she leads and coordinates outreach and public engagement activities. Iezzi completed her PhD in Mathematics at the University of Warwick in 2016, specializing in Geometric Group Theory. Following her doctorate, she held an early career fellowship at Warwick's Institute of Advanced Study and Institute for Advanced Teaching and Learning, where she developed an interest in science communication and higher education pedagogy. Since joining the University of Edinburgh in March 2017, Iezzi has spearheaded various projects, including a series of videos for secondary school students promoting mathematics. Her responsibilities encompass student skill development, supporting online teaching, and managing widening participation programs. Iezzi's work aims to bridge the gap between academic mathematics and public understanding, demonstrating the creative and practical aspects of the field.
