Francesca Grandi

Francesca Grandi is a Senior Operational Researcher at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Center for Operational Research and Experience (CORE) and has over 15 years of experience in research and policymaking within international organizations, academia, think tanks, and NGOs. Her expertise encompasses humanitarian relief, conflict prevention, peace diplomacy, peacebuilding, and peacekeeping. Francesca serves on the Board of Directors at Mercy Hands Europe and is an Adjunct Professor at the IE School of Global and Public Affairs in Madrid, where she teaches Risk and Foresight in International Development. She has held various roles in prominent institutions, including the International Institute for Strategic Studies and the Overseas Development Institute, focusing on armed conflict and humanitarian responses. Additionally, she has worked with the United Nations across multiple departments and has been involved in election observation missions with the European Union. Francesca holds a PhD in Political Science from Yale University and has published extensively on issues related to humanitarian action. She teaches the course "Operational Research for Humanitarians."
