The Linux FoundationOriginally from Transylvania, Romania, Flavia Cioanca's journey to becoming a Senior Manager of Instructional Design at The Linux Foundation has been uniquely diverse. She holds a BA in Geography and English Language and Literature from Babes Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca and began her career as Chief of Staff for a Romanian Parliament member. After moving to the United States, she explored various industries including tourism and finance while pursuing her MA in Human Resource Development from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. She joined The Linux Foundation full-time in 2015, where she now designs and manages eLearning experiences across multiple platforms including edX and Coursera. Her work involves creating self-paced courses on open source technologies, collaborating with course instructors, and managing the eLearning production process. She recently co-authored the third edition of the Introduction to Hyperledger Blockchain Technologies MOOC on edX and is currently working on a Business Implications and Strategy for 5G Professional Certificate program. Beyond her professional life, Flavia enjoys traveling with her husband, outdoor activities, particularly mountain exploration, and photography. Her unique background and commitment to lifelong learning have shaped her approach to creating meaningful educational experiences in the rapidly evolving field of technology.
