Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M)Filippo Cichocki completed his PhD at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid's Department of Aerospace Engineering in 2015. His academic background includes a bachelor's in aerospace engineering and a master's in space engineering from the University of Rome. His doctoral research focused on plasma plume expansion from electric thrusters into vacuum. Before his academic career, he worked at Elecnor Deimos-Space from 2009 to 2013 as a junior project engineer, contributing to significant European space projects including Exomars, RAAS, MARCOPOLO-R, and NEOSHIELD. His expertise spans mission analysis, navigation, plasma physics, and electric propulsion, particularly ion beam shepherd technology. While pursuing his PhD, he contributed to teaching laboratory sessions for master's courses in Astrodynamics, Atmospheric Flight, and Space Systems Design at UC3M. His work bridges theoretical plasma physics with practical applications in space propulsion systems.
