Inter-American Development BankFatima Suleman serves as Professor and Director of the WHO Collaborating Center for Drug Policy and Evidence-Based Practice at the University of KwaZulu-Natal's School of Health Sciences. After earning her pharmacy degrees from the University of Durban-Westville and doctorate from the University of Illinois Chicago, she has established herself as a leading voice in pharmaceutical policy. Her career includes chairing South Africa's National Pricing Committee and serving as Prince Claus Chair at Utrecht University (2016-2018). Through her roles as WHO technical consultant, chair of the WHO advisory group on Cancer Medicines Availability and Affordability, and rapporteur for the WHO Expert Committee on Essential Medicines, she continues to influence global pharmaceutical policy. Her contributions earned her the Distinguished Teachers' Award in 2010, and as a Fulbright Scholar and coordinator of two online master's programs, she advances pharmaceutical education while promoting equitable access to medicines across developing nations.
