Eric De Brabandere is a Professor of International Dispute Settlement and the Director of the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies at Leiden University. He also practices as an Attorney-at-Law (Of Counsel) at the Ghent Bar with Lexlitis Gent, specializing in international law and arbitration. In addition, he serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Leiden Journal of International Law and is on the Board of Editors for several other journals, including the Journal of World Investment & Trade and the Revue belge de droit international. Previously, he held visiting professor positions at the University of Trento in Italy, the Catholic University of Lille in France, and the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. De Brabandere holds a Cand. Jur. and Lic. Jur. (cum laude) from Ghent University, a Diplôme d’Études Approfondies en Droit International Public (LL.M. equivalent) from the University of Geneva, and a Dr. Jur. (PhD) from Ghent University. Before joining Leiden University in 2007, he worked as an assistant lecturer and researcher at Ghent University's Department of International Law and taught international trade law and international institutions at Karel de Grote University College in Antwerp. His expertise lies in general international law, particularly international investment law, arbitration, and international dispute settlement. He has authored several significant publications, including books on investment treaty arbitration and post-conflict administrations.
